Typography

This is a layer of text, over a layer of a black and white picture I took of my friend Jay. I did a couple of things with this layer. First, I increased the darks, then I applied the 'Poster Edges' filter. Finally, I reduced the opacity and applied it over another layer that I had filled with a dark red.

Making a mask from scratch

This one took a few tries before I could get it right. But eventually I was able to select and copy Lisa from this picture......


...and add her to these....

Color

Here are two assignments working with color. The first is a black and white photo which has been colorized using Photoshop's copper gradient. The second is a composite of three photos: snow, jellyfish at the aquarium, and my friend Stella. The layering of the jellyfish over the snow initially gave a very mysterious look, so I used color to play that up.

Duotones

This is a photo of my dog added to a photo of a Dutch garden, which I took when I was in Holland last year.
